Retro fans: Trixi and Jon Hunt. The 1960s is their favorite design era, said Trixi. "We like the streamlined Jet Age look that indicates motion and progress," said Jon.
The house: A "midcentury modest" 1962 bungalow in Robbinsdale painted Pepto-Bismol pink. "It's a house a regular dude would have lived in," said Jon.
Inspired by: Their friend Jake Rudh's midcentury modern flat-roofed abode filled with sleek retro furnishings. (Rudh founded the popular Facebook group Twin Cities Midcentury Modern [TC- MCM]; his home was featured in last Sunday's Homes section.) "Jake's house is so cool," said Jon. "The inside matches the outside."
Groovy find: 1967 Chromcraft laminate and chrome table with black vinyl chairs in pristine condition for $40 from a thrift store.
Biggest splurge: A vintage 1970s Preway cone fireplace for $200.
Back-to-the-'60s kitchen: "I really like the NuTone food center because it symbolized the kitchen of the future," said Trixi.
Pretty in pink: They transformed a "greige" bathroom to peachy pink by scraping white glaze off the originally pink-hued tub and adding a pink toilet and sink. Trixi hung atomic starburst vintage wallpaper. Next to the sink is a pink Lady Sunbeam women's razor.
