Contemporary Wallpaper Designs Biogoraphy
German designer Mark Braun participated in the Talents program for young designers organized by Tendence back in 2006. Since then, the designer has worked with big manufacturing companies such as J+L Lobmeyr, Phillips de Pury and Wallpaper, and this year his work will be part of Tendence's Talents 10+1, highlighting the program's success stories. Braun talked to Relaxnews about cultural identity and contemporary design trends.Relaxnews: What is your main purpose when designing an object?Mark Braun: Besides function and sustainability, products are always part of our social and cultural identity. It is a great challenge to accomplish these aspects.R: Can you name one or two designers who have influenced your work?MB: Naoto Fukasawa with his brilliant sense for the essential and Tom Dixon for many of his fascinating nonmaterial products.R: What shapes, colors or other elements inspire you?MB: There are several research techniques I use and it always depends on the project and the topic which I'm focusing on. Finally, inspiration for me is a mixture of my skills combined with my curiosity.R: How was the experience of participating in Tendence?MB: I participated in the Tendence Talents program in 2006, shortly after my graduation. The experience of showing my projects to the public was very positive. I immediately got in touch with several companies who wanted to manufacture my products.
