Second Hand Rose Biogoraphy
Second Hand Rose hosts “Ladies Night Out” this Friday, August 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. Julia Falce-Vail has developed so many friendships in her two years of doing business in Florence, she has planned this evening to hang out and let the ladies enjoy each other’s company.
The consignment shop on the bottom floor of the old Silver King hotel in downtown Florence is a perfect place for this Celebration of Friendship. Guests can mingle in the store, spread out into the common area of the hotel, and relax on the back patio. There will be snacks, music by the band Paydirt, free manicures, and beautiful gift baskets with items donated by Julia’s friends and goods and services donated by local merchants.
The shop itself is an experience, brimming with fine fashions, elegant jewelry and a few small antiques. The proprietor’s artistic spirit shines through the classy décor of the shop. She also makes intricate quilts, posh lamps in custom colors, wreaths and flower arrangements.
Dealing with more than 300 local consignees, Second Hand Rose has a diverse and ever-changing inventory. Julia is open to stocking different items; quality merchandise only, not yard sale discards. She likes the business of turning trash into treasures - her partners get a little green for their recycled stuff and her customers get unique items at reasonable prices.
She also likes to help others, collecting donations for CASA Abused Women, Dress for Success, Seniors in Need, the Indian Village on Adamsville Road, and High School Drama Clubs. She loves Florence and is actively involved in improving our community. She serves on Chamber of Commerce board, helped found the Florence Arts Council, volunteers at the Senior Center, is active in GFWC Florence Woman’s Club, and serves in her church.
Julia always goes out of her way to be a good friend. She said: “It feels so good to help others and to know that God’s healing hands are with me along the path.”
